Colonel Jake Thomas has found himself at the edge of disaster once more and managed to pull back from the brink. Defeating the alien armada without the use of a recreated doomsday device was a great victory. However, it was a victory tainted by the realization that a new NeHaw leadership was in place, and they knew how to fight a war in space. He is once again fighting a two front war, one in space and one on the home front. With cities around the world starting to emerge from the darkness, its troubles at home that have Jake the most challenged. Besides a pregnant Sara, Jacob and Gemma divulge a secret of their own, and it’s one that has Gemma’s mother none too happy.

ALICE Space War Volume 4 C W Lamb Books

Really loved the first few books. This one seemed to have many of the same elements but didn't have the same punch as prior books. By the points:

-There weren't really any major twists or developments like earlier books where the Alices took to space, first contacts, etc. (at least until the very last page, which had no effect on this book)
-This book had tons of military action, almost to the point of being too much. Just constantly undertaking action.
-The broad roster of characters gets a bit too much at times. Having to remember them all, they lose significance.
-The harem stuff was backed off in earlier books... and now it seems to be ramping up again. Don't really understand why we're waffling on it. Go all in or cut it loose. Throw in some aliens too for all we care, just stick with a path.
-I actually found the events in NY to be better than all the space action. The space action just didn't have any punch or feeling of challenge. Was the only community development in the book.
-The NeHaw as a race were rather two-dimensional and dumb to start with in earlier books, yet here comes a new general and now all the NeHaw seem to suddenly be normal and logical thinker. (A good change.)
-Weddings, pregnancies. This stuff was a bit boring/flat/superfluous, and wasted the precious little page time we had.
-The end took an unexpected direction and stopped in a good place.
-The author does say there will be another book (5), and I'll definitely buy it. I just have lowered expectations going forward.
-4.5 hrs worth of story. You'll eat it in one sitting, and slow spots are generally no more than 3-5 pages to push through.

ALICE Space War Volume 4 C W Lamb Books Reviews

Well, I've read all the Alice series.
I'm going to reread them,
They are that good.
Saving everything and everybody he can,
Making new friends and associates.
Proving to the enemies that they don't have a snowballs chance in the universe.
Attaboy!
Space opera to be loved.
A great escape for your head!
Jake has been enjoying a series of handy victories however with the overthrow of the old mehaw government he now faces an enemy that has a clue and doesn't appreciate the upstarts schooling them in battle. What magic does Jake have left in his hat? Only the stuff of nightmares. Let's hope he doesn't have to use it.
Nice continuation of the ALICE story. Only recommendation for next book is to minimize number of characters focused on and jumping back and forth between chapters. Also, ALICE and her sisters were mostly referred to in the third person. Can't recall one conversation Jake had with the original ALICE. It might be more interesting to follow the challenges uplifting Earth rather than interaction with Aliens.
So far II have the whole series and the audio books and have read them several times. love the story line.
And a great lead in for more books in this series. I’m very glad to have the questions raised answered too. I was afraid he wasn’t going too.

Overall a great read and I enjoyed the series. There are places where the technical bogs the story down but still very fun. I’m very interested in where Jack’s descendants go from here...
Guy wakes up from a freeze experiment in the future with super human strength and a bunch of hot women who he needs to impregnate to help save the earth. Well that's a great plot. This 3rd installment is very similar to the other two in the series. Great book, nice light read. My only complaint - other than the complete lack of substance - the book could SERIOUSLY use a proof reader. So many grammatical errors it was just jarring to read in places. For example the use of the word "drug". As in "Jake drug him out of the line of fire". I did a bit of research and apparently that's a common grammatical error for people living in the southern USA. I don't know if that's where the author is from but perhaps that explains some of the other grammatical errors? Maybe just examples of a regional dialect at play? Those errors aside, this was a fun read. AI? Check - love it. Evil Aliens? Check - awesome. Space battles? Check check check. If you read this series you won't learn anything. Actually you might end up a big dumber. But it was still lots of fun. I'll be looking for more books from CW Lamb.
As Mr lamb was building his bureaucracy, he was demonstrating how a bureaucracy gets built. Although things are always much more complicated in real life, I thought he did a creditable job. After all he has to make the story interesting. We start with friends, and expand relationships, and build upon nepotism which isn't so bad in the beginning, but eventually, as the weight of the organization increases, there is friction and misunderstandings. That which holds everything together is the outside threat of the NeHaw who are bent upon destroying the upstart humans who cling to survival through outrageous and unexpected risk taking. The ending is credible as it relies upon an agreement to an armistice derived mainly out of the NeHaw commander and Jake both needing to resolve domestic problems as opposed to continuing a conflict of mutual destruction. This is a very well thought out story. There is a slight teaser at the end, but I hope Mr lamb calls this a conclusion to the Alice series. I wouldn't mind meeting Jake and his girls in another series, but I hope it isn't some sort of continuation of the NeHaw battles. Instead, I hope earth and NeHaw get together more or less like the Klingons got along with Earth in the star trek series.
